HISTORY/BIO 

     The following is a brief history of the band:

                           

  Kim Cahill and Christopher Hill started Scotland Yard from an ad that Chris had placed in the Music Connection magazine in Los Angeles, California.  It was already 3 months old and no longer even running.  Chris was burnt out opening his door to the most varied assortment of flakes and characters coming out of the Hollywood woodwork.  Add to that Kim's own audition nightmares and you get two people who were irritated and had no patience for any crap.  They got in an argument over the phone during their first conversation and hooked up shortly there after in a local Denny’s coffeehouse. They both finally found what they were looking for.  

 

Over the next two years Kim and Chris composed and sequenced what would become their first CD, “Rogue.” Following its release a live band was in order so back to placing ads in the local music magazines they went.    The current line up consists of Kim Cahill (Vocals/Everything), Christopher Hill (Guitar/Keys), and Rob Ferrell (Drums). “24/7,” their second full length CD was released in Nov. 1999.

 

Strong Energetic live shows earned SY opening slots and appearances with many great bands such as Lenny Kravitz, Lit, Berlin, Missing Persons, Gene Loves Jezebel, Dave Wakeling (former General Public member), John Easdale of Dramarama, and Martha Davis (The Motels).  SY has also had many of their own shows headlining at various clubs packing them in.

 

From 98 to Current, SY has a very intense internet presence on the web. They are very involved with many different websites and keep their presence nationally and internationally.   SY has been featured on many high profile sites such as  Blackflys.com (along side Korn, Garbage, No Doubt and Metallica),and  Launch.com (along side Backstreet boys, Jennifer Lopez, and  N’Sync). Over 30 high profile websites currently host  Scotland Yard  web pages.

 

SY has also been featured on the three top websites such as MP3.com, Farmclub.com, & “track of the day” on Garageband.com.

 

Out of 34,000 songs on Garageband.com  “Movin On” reaches and holds #1 on the pop charts.

 

MP3.COM selects "Movin On" to be featured on the MP3 College Radio station playlist. It's sent out to over 170 college radio stations.

 

Scotland Yard's song "Movin On" is featured as the Track Of The Day on www.garageband.com

 

SY has two videos out for viewing, “American Hero” which features live shots from various shows, & “No Regrets” which was filmed on top of the House of Blues building in Hollywood, CA.  No Regrets can be viewed on the internet directly from www.scotlandyard.net.

 

“No Regrets” video was voted #1 twice by its viewers on Comcast cable, Music Search 2001 reached over 3.9 million homes. 

 

Most recently, SY has teamed up with OnCampus Booking to promote and schedule a national college tour in 2001. SY is also recording and writing new tunes for their next CD release.

Scotland Yard is a band that is high energized “power-pop” with crafty songwriting and excellent musicianship.  This four piece combines crunchy guitar riffs, electronic loops, powerful rhythms, and vocal choruses that will keep you singing for days.  Scotland Yard has been frequently compared to “No Doubt, Garbage, Offspring, & Republica.”  This is PowerPop with an attitude.  Scotland Yard’s current release, “24/7,” is on the Los Angeles based Interpol Records label.  When SY plays live they will win you over with their songs, their captivating presence, their energy, & their wide range of covers and original music.
